Chapter 1 - The Invisible Tribe part II

Those words were bringing me to a different place, I could hear the voices of the guardians being pulled away from my reach, to a different time, to a different memory, I closed my eyes while the vivid memory became alive around me. I felt the world I was in disconnect from reality. And although I knew I was still in the tent, in the middle of the Invisible’s camp, the scenario around me changed.
I was standing on a meadow, in the middle of a dense forest. It did not have a specific shape, but it was mesmerizing. The grass was short, and you could tell that this place received visitors quite often for the way the grass grew weakly, some wild flowers stubbornly grew through the place, although not too many, just enough to make anyone that cross this place for the first time stop to admire it, it was a beautiful place. I knew this place, and I knew in which memory of my own I was in. I turned in the direction I knew the little boy would appear right when he stepped in to the meadow.
The little boy’s breathing was hard, like he had been running for miles and miles without stopping. Sweat and dirt spread across his angel face, and I could never get used to the way the little boy looked. The boy was amazingly beautiful; not that I noticed that much, but anyone else could stare at this little boy forever and never get tired of his beauty. Even with his clothes torn apart and full of mud and dirt, he still would be the object of admiration. With his light brown hair that reflected bronze in the sunlight, and his deep green eyes, he was the closest you could get to an angel. Or a freaky demon, as I thought.
For a moment I was amazed, stunned; I caught me mesmerizing myself as a little boy. I have been through this memory over and over through the years of my life, and although this memory did not lead to happy memories, it was one of the last memories I remembered being truly happy. A jolt of pain stager in my heart. I wished I could go back in time, to that exact moment so I could change the sequence of what was going to happen. I did not know if it would make a difference, but it would be worth trying.
_There you are! - a familiar voice sounded through the woods, making both of me turn to the sound of it. It was a deep, husky voice. The little me didn't think twice, and at the sound of that voice pull out his sword and pointed toward the sound of the voice. The sword, was not a rightful description of the weapon he was holding. just the blade of it was almost the size of the kid's legs, and it was proportionally larger sideways, a lot thicker and fatter than normal.
My eyes were fixed on the meadow's north edge, looking exactly were the man was about to appear. And although this was just a strong memory in my head and all of this wasn't really happening, my heart begun to pound really fast, and I could not breath.
The man stepped out of the forest with a sigh. He was tall, and strong, really strong. His eyes were deep green, and his hair was pitch black. His face was severe and strong, he had disapproval written all over his face. He was a handsome man. The kind that when passing through a village or city was easily noticed by the women around and left many of the man envious.
The man pinched his nose's bridge.
_I am tired of this, boy, this ends here and now! - He grabbed his own sword off his back, and pointed toward the young me.
The kid took a deep breath, and ran across the meadow cutting the distance between him and the man that brought danger over.
The man did not seem to move. He sighted again and when Kinnh's sword was close enough, he stepped away and grabbed the surprised little boy that just realized his target wasn't there anymore by the back of his neck.
_Let me go! - my young self shouted while the man lifted him from the floor and he was caught kicking and punching the air.
_That is enough of your games, Kinnh, it is time to go home, take a bath and go to bed. And there is NOTHING you can do about it. I am your dad and you will do as I say. _The man said calmly and although this was supposed to be a serious conversation between them, he had a big smile in his face.
He grabbed the sword from his son's grip and putted it away in his own back while he settled him down keeping his hand on Kinnh's shoulder.
_Now you listen, next time this happens, you better keep your head in the battle too, otherwise, you will always be beaten up by whoever you are against. _He was so serene that you could see the kid's shoulder relax in defeat. _ You always keep your sword in position, it needs to have space to be swung. And you need to think before you do so. Just because it worked once, it doesn't means it works with everyone or everytime. _ He smiled getting on his knee in front of his son. _Do you have any idea of how proud I am of you? _ Kinnh smiled halfheartedly and embarrassed.
_Thanks dad.
_Now let's go home. And don't even think of not bathing yourself. _He said teasingly _ Your sister does not deserve to sleep with a skunk.
_I don't think she would mind, actually. _He protested
_Oh! I bet she would! And I bet she would beat you up all the way to the river just to make sure you do bathe!
He pulled his hand over his head and scratched his back, smiling embarrassed again.
_Well, she only did it once! And she did not beat me up all the way there, I ran half the way!
His dad shook with laughter straighting up and walking along his son back to the village.

I was still standing in the meadow, watching my younger self and my dad walk beside each other into the forest and back to where they used to live. I took in a sharp breath, I had forgotten to breathe trying to absorb a littler bit more of this moment.
That was the last time I had ever seen my father. Eleven years ago...

Chapter 1 - The Invisible Tribe

We had just set camp outside the skirts of a little town of Goblins, Tmakik. You could always count on Goblins not to notice on some half elves around town, they could barely tell the difference between grapes and berries! Ha! I snorted. There I was making fun of the poor little creatures that were as blind as an old drunk lady, instead of being thankful for the opportunity of setting camp for longer than a couple days.
I took a deep breath, setting my backpack on the corner of the tent.  The sound of the fire crackling in the burning logs was the only thing I could hear outside. Everyone should be in their own tents, sleeping soundlessly through the feeling of being safe again, at least for tonight.
I knew where the sound I was looking for was, and once you know where the sound you want to hear is coming from, it gets easier to find it from this far. There were some good things about being a Cursed One, the hearing was one of them, and the inexplicable other powers that come along with it. But sometimes I do wonder if the burden wasn’t too much for only two people to carry.  I focused on the whispers that I could now hear. There, around the 25 tents, the guardians were on their watch to protect the Invisibles camp.
_How is he doing, Maya? – a soft deep voice asked.
_I wish I could tell for sure, Father. He is so difficult to read. I can’t tell if he is just worried about Aiyn Kira, or if he is suffering the lost of the Great Aiyn Khadagar. – her soft honey words were like a dagger in his heart. She could really see more than he thought she could.
_It is a hard burden to carry. – Father whispered in a serious tone. – He is way too young, and I wish there were other ways, but he is who he is, and we all depend on him and his sister.
She took a deep breath.
_I wish I could help more. – she said with a clear frustration on her voice.
_We are doing what we should do, Maya, and that is to protect Aiyn Kinnh, and to guide him through his journey. There is no more we can do.
_Father… - She hesitated, and Kinnh knew her well enough to know that she would be looking to her feet right now, and probably twisting one of her gold locks of hair in one finger, not sure if she should or should not ask. That made him grim a little bit.
_Maya. – He answered the unspoken question – Aiyn Khadagar was the greatest Emperor I have ever known. And the same applies to Aiyn Khalia, his beloved sister, and Empress. What you need to understand now, my child, is that the burden wasn’t something Aiyn Kinnh and Aiyn Kira choose upon, but they were prepared to take it before they even knew about it. And they are the only ones that can hold the walls, my child, they are too powerful. Much more powerful than any of us together! And they love us, my child, they understand our mission, our passion, and our hatred of war, our need of peace.

Preface

It was a time of Wars in this World we once lived in. The races were in war, afraid of one another abilities, and afraid to lose the little power they had.  Elves, humans, werewolves, vampires, and many others, lived in a constant war, battle after battle, afraid of what could happen next.  No one could count on anyone. There was always a reason to fight, but no reason to stop. Lives were lost, dreams were shattered, families forever broken, forever lost…
